3 Sounds of -ed

The 3 sounds of -ed Regular Past Tense deck was designed to support clinical speech-language pathologist and literacy interventionists treating comprehension, production, spelling and reading of the regular past tense morpheme -ed. In this course, you'll learn how to use the deck to plan intentional therapy sessions using a language - speech - print approach.

You’ll learn about patterns behind the three sounds of -ed and how to use the sound cues and vocabulary stimuli to teach early morphology and link phonology, orthography and meaning.

Throughout the course, you will:

  • Understand the rationale behind the deck's organization.

  • Identify causes behind your students’ difficulty with past tense -ed.

  • Incorporate literacy into your speech and language sessions using engaging activities.

  • Familiarize yourself with common spelling patterns: drop e, doubling rule, y → i

  • Adapt the deck for different skill levels and therapy contexts, including individual dynamic assessment and generalization.

Whether you work at a clinic, school or at home, this course will help you use the 3 Sounds of -ed deck with intention to make meaningful gains in the areas of speech, language and literacy.
